LEGAL STATUS

Founded and registered on the 25th of February 2005 by the Senior Divisional Officer for Mfoundi, declaration No: 000154/RDE/G06/BAPP

AIWO-CAN is an apolitical and a non-profit organization regulated by law No: 90/053 of 19th of December 1990 on freedom of association in Cameroon with its headquarters located in Yaoundé.

OUR VISION

Enhancing the Socio-economic capacities of Women and girls from indigenous and local communities to fully engage and practice their civil, political as well as their environmental rights.

OUR MISSION

Our Mission is to Sensitize, Educate, Promote and Protect the rights of Indigenous women and girls through socio-economic empowerment, civil and political awareness all together with their rights to a clean and safe environment and the sustainable use of natural resources.

OUR OBJECTIVE

Aiwocan believes every child deserves a future. in Cameroon and around the world, we give children a healthy start in life.

  • Defend and promote the rights and interests of African Indigenous women.
  • Improve the socio-economic conditions of women in indigenous and local communities.
  • Support the preservation local knowledge, biodiversity and natural resources

  • Support climate change adaptation and desertification through a community-based approach.
  • Assist and support women victims of violence and genital mutilation.

  • Take action at the international level to prevent any genocidal or ethnocidal act.
  • Train women from local communities on human rights issues
  • Promote and ensure sustainable economic development in areas inhabited by indigenous people of Africa
